Can you believe it?
The first of the year’s five “Drag Race Canada” events is returning this weekend.
The drag race series was created by the Canadian Drag Racing Association and was one of the first events held in the world in 2006.
A “Canada” event is a race where participants are selected based on their skill, ability, and talent.
There are currently four “Canada”-themed events. They are: the Great Drag Derby, the Drag Race Canadian Championship, the Drag Queen Championship, and the Drag Racing Canada Cup.
All five events are set to take place on Saturday and Sunday, and are part of a year-long festival that is held on the same weekend in June.
What to expect from the five events: The events will take place at different venues, including the Ontario Centre, the Toronto Zoo, the Rideau Canal, the Ottawa Convention Centre, and other locations.
Each event will have a specific theme, such as the “Drag Queen’s Challenge” or the “Drag Race Canadas Challenge”.
For example, the Great Derby will feature a “Drags Canada Challenge”, and the Canadian Championship will have “Dragan Drag”.
Each Drag Race Canada event will feature “special guests”, such as a celebrity judge or judge’s panel, and the head judge or host of the show.
So, to get a feel for what to expect, here’s what you need to know about the events: The Great Drag Run-Up: Canadians are taking on their first ever Drag Race and they’re going to need all the help they can get.
With the first Drag Race series taking place in Ontario, organizers are hoping to attract up to 150,000 spectators to the Ottawa-Gatineau Convention Centre on Saturday.
While some of the race’s competitors will be dressed as their favourite Drag Race stars, the event will also feature celebrity judges, panelists, and guests.
“We are bringing Drag Race back to Canada in a big way,” says Jason Pritchard, executive director of the Canadian Association of Drag Racing, in an email.
“[The Canadian Drag Association] has been so supportive of Drag Race over the years, and this year they’re doing a lot of things that are really important to drag racing.”
The Drag Queen’s Race: Ahead of the Queen’s Drag Race in Ottawa, Ontario, Canadians will take on a challenge.
Can you win the Drag Challenge?
According to the event’s website, participants are expected to complete a series of 10 jumps at the Ottawa Civic Centre, using a “Drag Challenge” style of jumps.
If they fail, they will face a “drag challenge” and be eliminated.
The race will run from June 10 to June 11, and participants will receive $10,000 each.
Drag Queen: After winning the Drag challenge, a contestant will take part in a drag show.
Participants will face challenges such as jumping off a cliff, dancing and singing in front of a crowd, and more.
“This year, the drag queen race will be held at the Canadian Centre of Ottawa, and there will be some celebrity judges and panelists participating,” says Pritches.
Dragan: Canadian Drag Racing’s drag champion will compete in a “dancing challenge” competition.
According the event, contestants will be asked to dance in front a crowd of over 100 people.
They will then be asked what the most impressive moment in drag is.
On top of the money, participants will also receive a prize purse.
Pritchard says that the Drag race series is not only bringing back drag racing to Canada, but it’s also giving Canadians a chance to meet other drag queens from around the world.
Canada’s drag race history: In 1996, the first Canadian Drag Race took place at the Toronto Centre.
Canadian drag queens were given an opportunity to compete for the $1 million prize.
In 2013, Canadian drag queen and drag queen’s world record holder, RuPaul, appeared in a Canadian drag competition.
In 2014, Canada’s drag queen RuPaul announced her intentions to retire from the drag world and return to drag herself.
With the rise of social media and the rise in popularity of drag in the U.S. and other countries, drag racing is back on the rise.
Drag racing is a global phenomenon, and will be an even bigger draw than ever in the coming years.
