NASCAR’s “Dune” race featured a brutal race where cars and drivers were set upon by a massive army of insects, complete with the race’s iconic giant insects.
The race’s final race of the year was also the biggest to date, with drivers battling through a jungle to win the championship.
In the event, drivers were left for dead after their car crashed into the wall of a giant jungle, leaving them in an untenable position.
Racers were left trapped in the jungle after their race, with one driver even dying on the track.
“They were coming up on the wall, and it hit them, and they fell right on top of the wall,” one driver, Joey Gordon, told the Associated Press.
“I was running, and my whole body was on fire, so I started kicking myself and I just started crying.”
Gordon was later found unconscious by another driver who was also killed on the race track.
The track’s organizers did not immediately return calls for comment.
